58 rescued from flood-hit Tatopani area bordering Tibet
KATHMANDU: Nepal Army helicopter airlifted 58 people, displaced by floods in Bhotekoshi River, from Tatopani area, near the Nepal-China border, on Friday afternoon, the Chief District Officer of Sindhuplachok, Gokarna Mani Duwadi, said.
"Firstly they were taken to Barhabise," Duwadi told THT Online from the district headquarters Chautara, "Then, 13 of them went to their relatives' houses in nearby safe locations whereas 44 were sent to their kin in Kathmandu."
The District Administration Office had managed a bus to ferry them to Kathmandu, according to Duwadi.
The chopper airlifted a security agency member, who received some injuries during the floods, to Kathmandu for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the Nepal Red Cross Society has reported on Friday that it distributed various relief materials to the flood victims via a Nepal Army helicopter. The NA has also provided tents for them while the District Health Office dispatched medicines, according to the NRCS statement.
