SURUNGA, JHAPA: Police on Wednesday detained four persons in connection with murder of a nine-year-old girl with a sharp-edged weapon at her home in Damak Municipality-4 of Jhapa district .

The deceased has been identified as Ganga Dahal, a daughter of Hem Karna Dahal.

One of the detained has been identified as the victim's elder sister Manju Dahal (17).

Dahal was found dead with injuries on her temple when she was staying home with her sister, while their parents were out yesterday, according to the Damak-based Area Police Office (APO).

The victim's mother had informed the police about the incident after she found her daughter dead on reaching home, said DSP Rajan Limbu of the APO.

Police assumed that she might have been killed at around 5:00 pm, DSP Limbu added.

Dahal was a second grader at the Himalaya Secondary School in Damak.
