KATHMANDU, MARCH 11

The Supreme Court of Nepal has ordered a full hearing on a writ petition filed against Rabi Lamichhane, chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

The court issued the order in response to a petition challenging the decision of the Office of the Attorney General of Nepal to withdraw a case related to cooperative fraud and money laundering charges.

A division bench comprising Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Shrikant Poudel directed that the matter be presented for a full hearing on March 15, according to Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala.

Attorney General Sabita Bhandari had decided on January 14 to withdraw the case while it was under consideration by the Supreme Court.

Law practitioners, including Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi, subsequently filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court challenging the Attorney General's decision.
