Baidhya slams UCPN-M for agreeing to statute deal

KAVRE: Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Chairperson Mohan Baidhya on Tuesday criticised Unified CPN-Maoist for cheating by clinching a deal with the ruling parties.

“The UCPN-M had hoodwinked us many a time, but this time there were also talks on the possibility of unification. We had trusted the party,” said the Maoist leader, talking to journalists in Banepa on Tuesday.

Baidhya was here to take stock of the damage caused by the earthquake in the district.

Demanding that the mother party change its modus operandi for any possible unification between the parties, the Maoist leader, however, still did not rule out the chances of unification.

Also, he stopped short of passing any comment on the recent 16-point deal among the major political forces, but identified his own party as one that had boycotted the latest Constituent Assembly polls.

Baidhya slammed the government for its 'sluggish response' to the post-earthquake crisis and also maintained that national sovereignty must be protected.
