DFO demolishes Radio Dhading building for encroachment

DHADING: The District Forests Office, Dhading with the help of security personnel demolished the building of Radio Dhading 106 MHz on Friday morning.

The DFO had been accusing the radio station of encroaching the forest land and constructing its building.

It had been warning the station to leave the land at the earliest.

It has been learned that the DFO Chief Imanath Paudel, forest guards and Nepal Police personnel had also misbehaved with and manhandled the journalists there.

The Forest Officer along with a huge number of police personnel and two excavators had reached the site at around 4 am today.

Journalists Shankar Shrestha, Khem Bahadur Chepang, Saugat Lamsal and technician Ram Bahadur Shrestha were misbehaved and manhandled.

It has been learned that all the equipment of Radio Dhading were destroyed while demolishing the building.

According to Vice-Chairman of the Radio Dhading, property worth around Rs 10 million were destroyed in the incident.

Earlier, the DFO had issued a directive to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s district head to cut off power line supplied to the Radio Dhading.

Later, the DFO Chief had detained and manhandled Satya Narayan Gami accusing the latter of defying the order.
