Drive against human trafficking launched

DHANGADI: A Mahakali to Mechi campaign against human trafficking was initiated from Mahendranagar today. Inaugurating the campaign in Kanchanpur, Province 7 Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta pledged that he would end human trafficking in the province. CM Bhatta also assured that the provincial government would formulate strategies to minimise and reduce trafficking incidents. An awareness rally was held today at Attariya which started from Mahendranagar. Students, locals and security personnel participated in the rally. Maiti Nepal Administrative officer and campaign coordinator Hasta Khadka said the campaign that started from Kanchnapur would reach various parts of the country and end on March 1, 2018. Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur Coordinator Maheswori Bhatta said Kanchnapur was at high risk of human trafficking due to porous border with India. Bhatta said an awareness programme in the village would help to reduce the problem.
