Energy minister discusses cooperation with UAE counterpart

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma on Monday held a meeting with his United Arab Emirates counterpart Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei in Abu Dhabi and discussed possible energy cooperation between the two nations.

An official at the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Keshav Raj Pokhrel, who had attended the meeting, said Sharma told the UAE Minister that Nepal had an excellent potential of generating hydropower for next 100 years and requested him to extend investment in Nepal.

In response, Mazrouei said he was positive about initiating a formal discussion for the same.

He also said the UAE was also interested in investment in agriculture and tourism development in Nepal.

Sharma is currently in the UAE to attend the World Future Energy Summit 2017, which the Prime Minister is scheduled to address today.
