Govt corresponds with India to ease supply

KATHMANDU: The government on Tuesday sent a letter to India seeking the southern neighbour’s help in normalising the flow of essential supplies.

A Cabinet meeting on Monday had endorsed a special proposal to request India to help end the ongoing problem at the border and ease supply  of essential goods, including cooking gas, petroleum products and medicine to Nepal.

“We have corresponded in line with the Cabinet decision through the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and Nepal’s Embassy in New Delhi,” said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tara Prasad Pokhrel.

Earlier, speaking at a media interaction, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae had said: “Once we receive such request from the Nepali side, we will take it up with the higher authority for needful consideration.”
