Siraha, June 10:

Activists of the Jay Krishna Goit-led Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-G) last night shot dead Surya Narayan Yadav, 45, a teacher in the local Janata Secondary School in Siraha district.

“Yadav was killed after he was abducted from his residence on the charge of conspiring to kill our party cadre,” said JTMM-G eastern regional commander Bikranta.

Talking over telephone from an undisclosed location, Bikranta said: “Yadav was murdered as he had conspired with the Maoists to kill our army commander Balram a year ago.”

“Some 22 armed JTMM-G cadres abducted Yadav from his house at Nahara Rigaul-2, Gamhariya Tole, last night and shot him dead after binding his hands and legs, at ward number 9 of the VDC,” said a local Madhu Sudan Yadav. However, JTMM-G district secretary and the eastern Tarai region bureau member, Amitav, condemned the incident saying that the JTMM-G does not have a policy of kidnapping and murdering people of the Madhes.

In a telephonic conversation from an undisclosed location, Amitav said: “Investigation into the incident is on. We will punish the guilty after the probe.”

The Siraha district committee of the Nepal Teachers’ Union condemned Yadav’s murder.
