Landslides obstruct Halesi-Jayaramghat road in Khotang

KHOTANG: Landslides followed by incessant rainfall in eastern Nepal has obstructed the Halesi-Jayaramghat road section, blocking vehicular movements to and from various places of Khotang district.

Landslides in the areas like Chyasmitar and Bahunidanda have obstructed the road since Thursday morning, said police.

It might take at least two days to reopen the road and make the vehicular movement smooth, informed DSP Nabin Kishor Pradhan of the District Police Office.

Among various points of the road, Kaduwa has suffered the biggest landslide and the debris primarily includes huge rocks there, informed Pradhan.

Kaduwa, Dangthe Khola, Bojheodhar and other nearby area have been affected as operation of vehicles to and from the areas has been halted.

Meanwhile, the Department of Roads has been requested to clear the debris.
