At least 16 dead in floods, landslides in six districts

KATHMANDU: At least 16 people are confirmed dead in the incidents of floods and landslides in six different districts of eastern, central and western Nepal since Monday night, according to Ministry of Home Affairs.

Casualties are reported from Pyuthan, Makawanpur, Palpa, Gulmi, Dolakha and Arghakhanchi, according to an official at MoHA.

Two persons, one each in Bara and Sarlahi, have gone missing after they were swept away by local rivers.

Fate of six persons who were hit by landslides or buried in the ruins of collapsed houses is not known yet, the Home official said.

Incessant rainfall for past three days have caused floods and landslides across the country.
