Left alliance provoking prez: Paudel

Damauli, December 17

Senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel today said that the president should not refuse to endorse the ordinance on National Assembly elections.

While thanking voters, Paudel said it was not good on the part of the president to not endorse the NA election ordinance sent by the government two months ago. Paudel was of the opinion that the process of appointing the prime minister and formation of the House of Representatives would not go forward without formation of the National Assembly. “First the NA should be formed with representatives of different political forces, which would pave the way for the formation of the House of Representatives and appointment of the prime minister,” said Paudel.

He, however, underscored the need to settle the problems facing the country through political consensus among party leaders.

Paudel argued that left alliance leaders were trying to provoke the president of late. He said the remarks of left alliance leaders that they would not take oath of office and secrecy from provincial assembly chiefs appointed by the incumbent government was a clear hint of authoritarianism and totalitarianism.

Paudel thanked the voters of Aanbukhaireni, Baradi, Bimalnagar and Dumre, among other places, today and expressed his commitment to do everything possible for the development and prosperity of the country despite his defeat in the elections.
