Newly elected local level representatives of Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality in Khotang district have started distribution of social security allowances, reaching out to the beneficiaries at their doorsteps.

Senior citizens, people with disabilities, Dalits, among other beneficiaries, were compelled to visit

the municipality office to receive their allowances, earlier.

Mayor of the municipality Dip Narayan Rijal and his deputy Bina Devi Rai visited the houses of Mani Sundar Bajimaya, 104, and Dambar Kumari Acharya, 109, in Diktel and handed over Rs 2,000 as their social security fund today.

After the distributing the money, Mayor Rijal announced that beneficiaries would be provided with their social security allowances at their homes now on. “Elderly people now on do not have to take trouble of walking all the way to the municipality office to collect their allowance,” he said.

It is said social security allowances would be distributed to beneficiaries in 15 wards of the municipality through their respective ward chairpersons.
