Madhesi parties advised to focus on Tarai agendas
Birgunj, July 27
Intellectuals, legal professionals and politicians in Birgunj have suggested that Madhesi parties and their leaders concentrate on the agendas of the Tarai rather than securing their berth in the next coalition government.
Participants at an interaction programme organised by Madhesi Journalists’ Association, Parsa, in Birgunj asked the Madhesi parties and their leaders to focus on how they could draw the attention of the government and opposition parties towards their major agendas.
Speakers Pramod Gupta, Hareram Thakur, Devendra Mishra, Binod Gupta, among others, warned that Madhes agitation would end in a written agreement if the Tarai-centric parties got involved in power politics.
Similarly, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal’s central member Birendra Yadav, Karima Begam, Forum Democratic central member Sasi Kumar Miya, Sadbhawana Party Co-General Secretary Surendra Kurmi, among others, pledged to move ahead with the aim of fulfilling the Madhesi people’s aspiration.
They stressed that they would zero in on the pressing issues and agendas facing the Tarai instead of getting engaged in power politics.
