Market monitoring intensified in Pokhara

POKHARA: In a bid to control the flourishing black market in Pokhara, the District Market Monitoring Committee has intensified the market monitoring in the city from Sunday.

A market monitoring team mobilised from the Committee monitored the meat shops, health institutes, agricultural products, petroleum products, medicines in various shops in Kaski district yesterday, said Jhalak Ram Subedi, the Deputy Chief District Officer.

Similarly, the team also monitored more than 12 shops today, he added.

A meeting led by Chief District Officer Tara Nath Adhikari on Sunday had decided to monitor the market after receiving complains about the black marketing.

The team also shut down a medical lab after the pathologist was found absent, said Kapilnath Koirala, President at Kaski Consumers Forum.

A team led by Lokendra Bohora, Chief of Agricultural Development Office in Kaski, monitored the fruit and vegetable shops in Pokhara. “Most of the shops were not registered and the shopkeepers were less concerned about the hygiene.”

The team has also directed the shopkeepers to rectify the fault.

According to CDO Adhikari, the ongoing inspection would last for a week.
