Kathmandu, April 28

Nepal Bar Association, condemned the alleged misbehaviour against Bara District Judge Bhoj Raj Sharma yesterday by a group led by CPN-UML lawmaker Nejma Khatun.

The NBA said a group led by lawmaker Khatun had vandalised the bench and verbally abused the judge yesterday.

The lawyers’ umbrella body said its serious attention had been drawn to this illegal act committed by a group led by Khatun, who holds the responsible post of a lawmaker.

The NBA urged the government to launch an investigation into the objectionable and illegal act and to bring the culprit to book so as to protect the independence and impartiality of the judiciary.

The lawyers’ body also said that disrespectful and indecent behaviour against a respected body like a court and a judge over the issue of a verdict passed, attacks the basic spirit of the independence of the judiciary.
