Nepal-India EPG meet to begin in New Delhi Tuesday

KATHMANDU: Members of the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) on Nepal-India Relations from the Nepali side on Monday left for New Delhi to attend the bilateral body's second meeting scheduled to begin from Tuesday.

The team led by foreign affairs expert Bhekh Bahadur Thapa comprises former minister and constitutional expert Nilamber Acharya, lawmaker Rajan Bhattarai and former Commissioner for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Surya Nath Upadhyay.

According to lawmaker Bhattarai, Nepal would propose to review the 1950 Indo-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship in the meeting.

It has been reported that in the previous (first) meeting of EPG, held in Nepal in last July, the Indian side had said India was ready to revise the treaty, urging Nepal to come up with a proposal towards this end.
