Nepal-India meet on border security issues

Birgunj, March 21

Security personnel of India and Nepal today reached understanding on launching a joint campaign to curb growing criminal activities along the border points.

Security officials present at the Nepal-India border security discussion held in Birgunj today agreed to launch the campaign.

The meeting decided to communicate promptly to the officials of both countries in case of illegal smuggling of sand, stone, boulders, forest products along with drug smuggling in order to curb such evils and take joint action against the guilty, said Parsa Chief District Officer Keshav Raj Ghimire.

The security officials also decided to hold another meeting in India’s Betiya from June 10 to 15.

The meeting was attended by the CDOs of Bara, Rautahat, Chitwan and Nawalparasi, chiefs of the security agencies, forest offices and survey offices on behalf of Nepal.

Chief District Officers, survey offices and security agencies chiefs of east and west Champaran of Bihar, India, were present at the meeting from the Indian side.
