'Nepali Congress decision on Karki impeachment soon'

DAMAULI: Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel said his party would take an appropriate decision soon on whether to support the impeachment motion against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki.

Speaking at an interaction and training programme organised by the party's Tanahun district committee in Damauli today, Paudel said the party's Central Working Committee meeting would make the decision very soon.

The CWC meeting had begun on Thursday, but it has not taken any decision over the issue yet. The meeting has been postponed till Monday while the Parliament is scheduled to begin discussions on the impeachment motion on Sunday.

The party leaders in the CWC meeting had put forth contrasting views on if the party should support the motion filed by lawmakers of CPN-UML and CPN Maoist Centre.

But Paudel today said the party should not make any haste for the decision.

He even added that the impeachment issue was insignificant in comparison to holding elections and implementing the Constitution; but media and others hyped it.

Meanwhile, Paudel said the party President Sher Bahadur Deuba should end increasing factionalism in the party.

Lawmaker Dhruba Wagle and other district and local leaders had also spoken at the function.
