NHRC to probe Radio Dhading building demolition

DHADING: A team from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has arrived in Dhading on Sunday to investigate the reports of bulldozing of Radio Dhadhing office by the District Forest Office two days ago.

The NHRC action follows complaints that the DFO officials including the District Forests Officer misbehaved with women in the course of destroying the building and a nearby building housing victims of violence against women.

The team will inspect the incident site, meet victims and authorities concerned and inquire about the incident, NHRC Investigation Officer Nitu Gartaula said.

Earlier, a journalists' team led by the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC), Nepal conducted an investigation into the incident.

The report would be made public in Kathmandu today, said Association Vice-President Bishnu Hari Dhakal.
