Nominations filed for civic polls in Province 2

Birgunj, September 6

Filing of nomination for the third phase of the civic polls slated for September 18 in different districts of Tarai in Province 2 concluded today.

Chief Returning officer Bishnu Subedi of Parsa said that candidates of different parties registered their nomination with enthusiasm and gusto at all 14 local bodies in the district.

The candidacy registration continued till today evening as the parties and their candidates came to file nominations with show of strength.

The Election Office in Parsa said 14 and 11 candidates filed their candidacies for the post of mayor and deputy mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal’s Bijay Kumar Sarawagi filed his nomination for post of mayor at Birgunj Metropolis. FSF-N’s Pinki Yadav filed nomination for post of deputy mayor. Similarly, CPN-Maoist Centre’s Rahabar Ansari and Durga Kshetri filed their candidacies for mayor and deputy mayor respectively.

Ajay Kumar Dwibedi and Shanti Karki from the Nepali Congress registered their nomination for mayor and deputy mayor at the metropolis. Dwibedi is the NC Parsa district president.

Likewise, CPN-UML’s Basuruddin Ansari and Sophia Acharya filed candidacy for mayor and deputy mayor respectively. Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal’s Rajeshman Singh and Rambha Mishra registered their candidacy for the post of mayor and deputy mayor respectively.  From Nepal Democratic Forum, Bimal Prasad Srivastab and Rinku Yadav filed their candidacies for the post of mayor and deputy mayor for Birgunj metropolis.

Eight persons including Mohammad Raja, Laxman Sah Teli and Devaki Das filed their nomination for the post of mayor as independent candidates. Likewise, five independent candidates have filed their candidacy for the deputy mayoral post.

Parties registered their candidacies for 136 local levels of eight districts in the Tarai today. Different parties and independent candidates filed their nominations for nine municipalities and nine rural municipalities in Saptari.

According to Chief Returning Officer of Saptari Sharada Prasad Koirala, NC’s Dhruba Dev, UML’s Sukhram Yadav, CPN-Maoist Centre’s Anish Ansari, Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal’s Shambhu Yadav, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal’s Bhimraj Yadav and Nepal Democratic Forum, among others, filed their nomination for the post of Rajbiraj Municipality’s mayor. As many as 821 party and independent candidates filed their nominations for 18 local levels, including 16 municipalities and two rural municipalities in Rautahat.

Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal’s Ajay Gupta, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal’s Gaurishankar Prasad Yadav and UML’s Shambhu Sah filed candidacy for the post of mayor at Gaur Municipality.

NC’s Ramchandra Chaudhary, UML’s Uddaw Regmi and CPN-MC’s Samir Bhattarai filed their nomination for the post of mayor at Rautahat’s Gaur Municipality.

Various party and independent candidates filed their nomination for all 17 local levels in Siraha, said District Election Office, Siraha.
