Over 200 households in Khotang in dark for six months

KHOTANG: Residents in three wards Baraha Pokhari VDC of Khotang district have been compelled to live in darkness for last six months as a defused transformer was not fixed.

The transformer had gone kaput in April this year.

Local consumers have expressed concerns about the negligence on part of Nepal Electricity Authority to maintain the dysfunctional transformer.

A local teacher, Shambhu Kumar Magar, said they were unaware when this recurring problem would be solved.

Despite the obstruction in the service, locals have been forced to pay the electricity bills.

Puruspotam Regmi, Chief of NEA Khotang, said technicians have already been assigned to fix the transformer.

He further added the electricity supply would be resumed before the Dashain festival.
