KATHMANDU, APRIL 25

The Rautahat District Court has sentenced former lawmaker Mohamad Aftab Alam and three others to life imprisonment for their involvement in a bomb explosion and murder case.

District Judge Matrika Prasad Acharya handed down the verdict to Alam, his brother Mahatav, Badri Sahani, and Sheikh Sheraj.

However, Mukti Sah, another individual implicated in the case, has been acquitted. The incident occurred at Rajpurfardawa village in Rautahat during the lead-up to the election of the then Constituent Assembly in 2064BS.

Additionally, the cases of six others who absconded after the incident and were accused of involvement in the crime have been put on hold.

The case, filed in 2019, accused 11 individuals, including former lawmaker Alam, of the explosion and murder. The hearing concluded on Monday.
