Parties agree to form 12 local bodies in Kavre

Following a long discussion, local political parties of Kavre have settled on 12 local bodies for the district, including one sub-metropolis, three municipalities and eight village assemblies.

As per the agreement, parties have theoretically agreed to merge Dhulikhel, Banepa and Panauti municipalities and Tukucha Nala, Ugrachandi Nala, Devitar Rabiopi, Patalekhet, Sharadabatase, Shaikhupatichaur, Balthali, Mahendrajyoti, Ugratara Janagal, Kushadevi, Rayale and Nasikasthan Sanga village development committees to form a sub-metropolis. The total population of these villages and municipalities stands at 135,614 persons, as per the latest census.

Similarly, while consensus has been reached to feed Dolalghat, Kharelthok and Koshidekha village development committees into the existing Panchkhal municipality, Dapcha Khashikhanda municipality, as per the agreement, will also incorporate Shyampati Simalchowr, Kanpur Kalapani and Katunjebesi village development committees.

Regarding Gairibisauna Deupur, Baluwapti Deupur, Nayagaun Deupur, Mahadevsthan, Chandenmandan, Jaisithok and Jyamdi villages, a new municipality by comprising these villages has been proposed.

Likewise, Saping, Bhumlutar, Chaubas, Bekhsimle, Simthali, Sallebhumlu, Sano Bangthali, Nagregagarche village development committees will be merged to form a new village assembly. The villages now have a population of 156,000.

The remaining VDCs too will be merged to form one or the other villages assemblies. The parties, however, are yet to propose the names of the newly formed village assemblies and municipality.

The Local Bodies Restructuring Commission had proposed 11 local bodies for the district. The district now has five municipalities and 75 VDCs.
