Patient’s kin backtrack on filing case against medical firm proprietor

Jajarkot, September 17

Family members, who had accused medical firm proprietor Tilak Bohora of negligence during Panchakala Nath Yogi’s treatment, have changed their statement and refused to file any case against him at Nalfu of Chhedagad Municipality in Jajarkot.

This has left police investigating Yogi’s death bewildered.

Panchakala Nath Yogi, 38, was taken to Jayalaxmi Medico Firm at Thalahan Bazaar in the municipality for treatment last Thursday. Yogi died on the way home after treatment at the firm.

Yogi was taken to the firm after she had fever. Medical firm proprietor Tilak Bohora had administered her three injections.

Family members had refused to accept the body seeking compensation and action against Bohora claiming that she had died due to Bohora’s negligence.

Surprisingly, yesterday, the family members  received the body and refused to file case at the District Police Office, Jajarkot, saying that Yogi’s death was accidental. This has confounded the police administration.

A source said that family members and the medical proprietor’s side had reached agreement, according to which Bohora would provide money in compensation to the family.

Inspector Lok Bahadur Bista said family members were preparing to file an FIR with the police claiming that Yogi had died of negligence till Saturday. “All of sudden, yesterday, they said Yogi had died accidentally,” said Inspector Bista.

According to Bista, police had registered a case against Bohora yesterday though the victim’s family members did not register any case. “Even if the guilty and the victim’s family reach agreement, police will not remain silent in this case,” Bista said.

The medical proprietor has been remanded to five-day custody. “We will investigate the incident thoroughly as the pharmacy was found to be running illegally for many years,” he added.

Bohora had been nabbed immediately by the police after the incident.
