KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has congratulated the Nepali team for winning gold medal in the 12th South Asian Games men's football.

Nepal defeated India 2-1 in the sensational finals played at Guwahati this evening.

According to a press statement issued by his secretariat, Prime Minister Oli congratulated the Nepali players, coaches and all members personally as well as on behalf of the Government of Nepal for the  victory.

Oli said Nepal winning gold medal in the SAG football after 25 has made the entire country proud of the team. "This victory by the Nepali players will be remembered for a long. The government will leave no stone unturned to honour the players (for the achievement)."

Prime Minister Oli congratulated the women's team also for the silver medal in the SAG women's football. The Nepali eves were defeated by India in the finals earlier today.

He further congratulated all medal winners in other events in the regional sports gala being held in India.
