BIRGUNJ: The central leaders of agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) directed their district-level leaders and cadres to "postpone" the protest programmes.

Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Parsa district chairman Pradeep Yadav, who has been coordinating the Front activities in the district including the Birgunj border point, said the Front directed him not to organise any protest programme until a next notice.

Earlier, the local leaders of the Front in Birgunj had decided to stage a torch rally in the city this evening. The programme was postponed after the directive, Yadav added.

The Front has been carrying out protest programmes across the Tarai districts demanding amendments to the Constitution for past five months.
