Prohibitory orders lifted in Jumla HQ

Nepalgunj, August 19

Life in Jumla became normal today after the administration lifted the curfew clamped three days ago in the district headquarters.

The local administration had issued curfew order in district headquarters Khalanga on August 16 after agitating demonstrators clashed with security personnel and the situation went out of control.

District Administration Office said it had lifted the curfew keeping in view the local tradition of carrying materials for worship from Jumla to Badimalika Temple in Bajura for Nagpanchami celebrations.

The demonstrators also withdrew their agitation following the administration’s decision, for a day, today.

All the shops and trading houses opened and people thronged the bazaar area after three days.

Meanwhile, Surkhet folks, who have been demanding an intact mid-west region with Birendranagar as the federal capital, moved round the bazaar area with effigies of the senior leaders of the four major parties on the 11th day of their agitation.

The agitating locals announced the region as the mid-west from the streets and took out a funeral procession in the names of the leaders today.
