Rajbiraj health workers demonstrate

Rajbiraj, November 25

Health workers and staffers of different health organisations of Saptari today demonstrated demanding safety and security at their work stations in Rajbiraj, Saptari.

Doctors, staff and government employees, among others, have stopped work after police entered and beat up health workers indiscriminately some days ago in Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, Rajbiraj.

Health workers and government employees, among others, took out rallies in different parts of Rajbiraj.

The participants demanded action against culprits; end to police brutality at hospitals and guarantee of peace, safety and security in health facilities, among others.

Health workers, who had been protesting since Sunday, have been providing emergency service to patients under tents on the premises of the Zonal hospital, while service at different health facilities of the district has completely stopped from yesterday.

Meanwhile, acting Chairman Than Singh Bhansali of Civil Society urged health workers to resume service as people have been suffering due to closures of health facilities.

He said the people were troubled after they did not get even ambulance service to take referred patients to Dharan and Biratnagar among other health facilities.
