GORKHA: Snowfall following rain and hailstorm that battered Laprak, Barpak and Ghyachchok of Gorkha district on Friday has affected the normal life of the people, especially the earthquake survivors.

Barpak was lashed by hailstorm and rain since 9 pm while Laprak and Ghyachchok were battered by hailstones since 11 pm Friday. Rainfall has occurred throughout the night in the area, a local said over the phone.

Worst still, the earthquake survivors in these places who are living in makeshift shelters were drenched by the rain. Out of the 1,372 households in Barpak, 30 households in Snan village are still living in tents.

After the hailstone and rainfall, now it has started to snow. The hills around here are covered with snow. Barpak, Gupsipakha of Laprak and Dhansira village in Ghyachchok received snowfall.

The earthquake survivors have made a huge fire and put on whatever warm clothes they have to keep themselves warm, said the local from Barpak.

However, the sky has cleared in the morning today and the villagers are longing for basking in the sun.
