KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 4

A total of 821 people displaced by the August 26 Bhotekoshi floods have received warm clothing and other essential items at two holding centres in Swayambhu, Kathmandu.

The relief was distributed to 392 men, 235 women and 194 children sheltering at Mustang Gumba and Yellow Gumba. The beneficiaries had been displaced from Rasuwagadhi, Timure and Syabrubesi in Rasuwa.

The assistance was provided under the Rasuwagadhi Flood-Affected Clothing Distribution Project 2026, as winter approaches and displaced families face difficult living conditioans after losing their homes and basic necessities.

Nima Sange Sherpa, manager of Makalu Outfit, said the initiative was aimed at helping flood-affected families cope with the approaching cold weather and their difficult circumstances.

Under the programme, each affected adult received warm and essential clothing worth around Rs 20,000, while each child received clothing worth approximately Rs 5,500.

Volunteers from Makalu Outfit and Ticino Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. carried out the distribution at the holding centres. The project was financially supported by Associazione Mani Per il Nepal-CH, with Makalu Outfit as a collaborating organisation and Ticino Treks & Expedition managing the local distribution.

The August floods and landslides caused significant loss of life and property in Rasuwa and displaced families from several settlements, including Rasuwagadhi, Timure and Syabrubesi.
