Tamuwan Protest Committee starts hunger strike

Agitating Tamuwan Joint Protest Committee today started a relay hunger strike against the constitution, at Manabadhikar Chowk in Chipledhunga, Pokhara from today.
As many as nine protesters, including committee coordinator Hum Bahadur Gurung were sitting at the relay hunger strike demanding Tamuwan identity and rights.
Secretary Man Bahadur Tamu, Kul Bahadur Bhujel, Tek Bahadur Tamang, Gopal Gurung, Captain Naresh Thapa, Dhan Bahadur Pariyar, Chandra Tamang Muskan were at the relay hunger strike on the first day.
The committee started the relay hunger strike expressing solidarity with the federal alliance which started the strike in Kathmandu the same day.
Coordinator Gurung said that they had started the relay hunger strike demanding that the constitution be re-written to include identity-based federalism, equality for Tamuwan language and end to all types of discrimination.
They have also demanded action against black-marketeers and immediate relief package for earthquake victims.
The committee has urged all to help in their peaceful protest for their rights and asked the government to address the 26-point demand of the federal alliance.
Meanwhile, Dhiraj Gurung, a migrant worker of Majhakot, Syangja, who is working in Korea, helped with Rs 15,000 expressing solidarity with the relay strike.
