Four Nepalis nabbed "for assisting in Kedia's abduction"

RAUTAHAT/KATHMANDU: Police in Bara district arrested four Nepalis for their alleged involvement in the abduction of industrialist Suresh Kedia.

Chanchal Pandey of Kabahi Jabadi, Pushkar Singh of Bariyarpur, Birendra Yadav of Mahagadhimai and Jiyalal Yadav of Telkuwa were arrested after the Nepal Police collected evidences of their involvement in the crime, the Bara District Police Office said. They apparently assisted in the abduction, which was masterminded and executed  by an Indian gang, from the Nepali soil.

Kedia was abducted by the armed Indian gang at gunpoint from Bariyarpur of Bara district on Thursday evening and taken to the Indian side, taking advantage of the porous border. The Nepali industrialist was safely released from Motihari of India yesterday.

Police claimed that the suspects had provided information about Kedia and his movements to the notorious Indian criminal, Bablu Dube who is believed to be the mastermind of Kedia's abduction, and his henchmen. Dube is currently doing time in a jail in Bihar.

In press conference organised at Raxaul before he returned to Birgunj, Kedia told media he was blindfolded and kept at a place for four days before he was released by the kidnappers. According to him, they used a motorcycle to take him away to another place to set him free.
