UDMF cadres vandalise, torch vehicles
BIRGUNJ: Cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front vandalised and torched a truck in Birgunj of Parsa on Tuesday.
The protesters vandalised the truck (Na 5 Kha 735) belonging to the Nimbus Group loaded with husk and set it ablaze accusing it of defying the bandh imposed by them. Prompt intervention by police and a fire brigade of Birgunj Sub-metropolitan City have taken the situation under control on time, restricting the damage of the property to a limit.
Meanwhile, they also vandalised the store of Saurav Enterprises located at Lipanimal of Bara along the Birgunj-Pathalaiya road on Tuesday.
According to its manager, Binod Gupta, the demonstrators manhandled the guard before vandalising and setting six trucks ablaze parked on its premises in Chainpur, Lipanimal VDC-9 of Bara District.
Leaders and cadres of the Madhesi Front have taken out a motorcycle rally from Gandak Chowk after the district administration has declared the area a riot-hit zone.
For last 15 days, demonstrators were only able to organise the really on outskirts of the city due to the prohibitory order and declaration of the riot-hit area within the city.
Police said security arrangements have been beefed up in the area.
Meanwhile, the administration is gradually relaxing curfew imposed in the city.
