UML not in favour of Constitution amendment, reaffirms leader Nepal

NEPALGUNJ: Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal reiterated that UML would not endorse the proposal for amending the new Constitution.

At a press conference organised by the Press Chautari, Banke Chapter in Nepalgunj today, leader Nepal argued that the importance of Constitution amendment should be established before springing into any action for the same.

The former Prime Minister also held the view that revising the national statute would pose threat to national integrity, security, independence and communal amity and unity.

Furthermore, claiming that the constitution amendment proposal was floated at the behest of foreign forces by some political parties for political gains, he assured of UML's firm conclusion for not giving in to such an action. Asserting three-tier elections was the mood of the people and the need of the hour, leader Nepal pressed for forwarding electoral process for the effective implementation of new Constitution.

He called for unity among political parties to ensure peace, political stability and economic prosperity in the country.
