Vaccine storage section ready in Sudurpaschim

DHANGADI, JANUARY 22

Sudurpaschim Province Health Supply Management Centre has prepared vaccine storage section to keep COV- ID-19 vaccines provided by the Government of India.

The storage section was prepared in line with the directive of the federal government, said Health Supply Management Centre, Dhangadi, acting Chief Padam Bahadur Bista. “We have prepared the storage section to store around one lakh doses of the vaccine though we have no idea how many doses of the vaccine the central government will send to Sudurpaschim”, said Bista.

The health supply management centre has capacity to store the vaccine at two to eight degrees Celsius. The centre has the capacity to store around 1.6 million doses of vaccine at a time.

Health Directorate, Dipayal, vector control Inspector Hemraj Joshi said that they had collected the data of 26,700 people working at the frontline, including health workers and security personnel to administer the vaccine from nine districts of the province. In the first phase, the central government is likely to send vaccines for three per cent population of the province.

Ministry of Social Development Spokesperson Narendra Karki said vaccines received from the federal government would be administered to health workers, security personnel, ambulance drivers, employees working at the health facilities and sanitation workers. “We are training health workers to administer the vaccine,” Karki added.
