Lalitpur Patriots unveil jersey, skipper

Kathmandu, November 23

Lalitpur Patriots revealed team jersey and skipper for the TVS Everest Premier League slated for December 19-30 at the Tribhuvan University Stadium.

Lalitpur Patriots President Kishore Maharjan, General Manager Chhumbi Lama, skipper Gyanendra Malla as well as cricketers Sandeep Lamichhane and Kushal Bhurtel unveiled the jersey at a programme today.

Meanwhile, team owner Maharjan also informed that Gyanendra Malla, who is also the marquee player of the team, will lead his side in the premier Twenty20 tournament.

“Malla is the vice-captain of national cricket team and he deserves to be the skipper of our team,” said Maharjan.

Maharjan also informed that Raju Basnyat will be coach of the team for the event and added that his team will field three Indian players who had featured in Indian Premier League and Ranji Trophy. “One each player from Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals as well as a player who has played Ranji Trophy will join our team. We will reveal their names once the contract is done,” he said.

Meanwhile, skipper Malla said he was excited to play EPL as a player. “EPL is one of the standard and big tournaments at the moment and this could be base for the professionalism of Nepali cricket from which players could earn living through this event,” said Malla.

EPL features six city-based franchise teams and they will compete against each other in the round robin tournament. The winners will get Rs 2.1 million. The teams have already picked marquee player and 10 cricketers through auction for the event.
