Periwinkle Service, a marketing and promotion company, is set to organise the third Ruslan 3X3 NeBA President Cup Basketball Tournament here at the National Sports Council Covered Hall from Tuesday.

A total of 24 teams in men’s section and 16 teams in women’s category will take part in the event that will conclude on September 3. The tournament will be played in double elimination format with team losing two matches in a row will be knocked out of the tournament, informed Periwinkle Service Chief Executive Officer Dipesh Ghale during a press meet today.

The top three teams in men’s section will earn Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively, while the women’s champions will receive Rs 50,000 with runners-up getting Rs 25,000. The Most Valuable Player in the men and women categories will earn Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.

Ghale said that the budgets of the tournament will be more than Rs 400,000, while main sponsor Ruslan will bear all cash prizes. Golden Gate College are the champions of both editions of the men’s category held in 2012 and 2014, while Prime College won first edition and Golden Gate claimed second edition in the women’s category. “We did not organise the event last year despite confirming the dates due to blockade at the border,” Ghale said.
