SAFF U-16 Championship: Nepal beat Afghanistan 1-0, to face India in semis

KATHMANDU: Nepal won their second match against Afghanistan 1-0 in the first SAFF U-16 Championship played at Sylhet District Stadium of Bangladesh on Friday.

After the victory, Nepal became winner of the Group B and advanced to the semifinals.

Nepal will take on India, runners-up of Group A, in the semi-finals to be held on Sunday.

On Friday, Kshitiz Raj GT had scored the decisive goal for Nepal in the 47th minute of the match.

Earlier, on Monday, Nepal had edged the Maldives 5-0.

Meanwhile, today's match was delayed for 30 minutes due to a heavy rainfall.

In the Group B, Nepal and Aghanisthan had booked their berth in the last four in the penultimate round itself after Maldives crashed out following two straight losses – 5-0 against Nepal and 4-2 against Afghanistan.
