KINGSTON: West Indies looked to be heading for another heavy defeat to India after slumping to 48-4 at lunch in their second innings on the fourth day of the second test on Tuesday.

West Indies began the day 304 runs behind and still trailed by 256 after a rain-affected morning session. The latest setbacks follow an innings defeat in the first test of the four-match series.

Tuesday's second innings started much like the first for the hosts, with Rajendra Chandrika falling early to paceman Ishant Sharma for 1. An hour-long rain delay followed with West Indies on 6-1.

When play resumed, Chandrika's opening partner Kraigg Brathwaite (23) fared slightly better, before being dismissed by Amit Mishra.

Marlon Samuels fell moments later for a duck, before Darren Bravo (20) was dismissed off the final ball before lunch. Mohammed Shami took both wickets.
