WT recognises NTA only: Choue

LALITPUR: World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue said that the Nepal Taekwondo Association was the only association recognised by the world governing body.

Asked about the claims of National Taekwondo Union of having recognition from Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters and home of World Taekwondo Academy, WT President Choue ruled out any controversy in Nepali taekwondo.

“I don’t think there is any controversy in Nepali taekwondo. The World Taekwondo is the governing body of Olympic sport of taekwondo and we only recognise Nepal Taekwondo Association.

That’s it. We are not dealing with any other association and it’s very clear,” said Choue.

The NTU, which is registered at the National Sports Council as the parallel body, has been claiming its stake in Nepali taekwondo.
