APF make it seven in a row

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 8

Star striker Sabitra Bhandari netted eight goals as Nepal APF Club thrashed Chaudandigadhi Municipality 14-0 in the Women's National League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

Skipper Anita Basnet and Anita KC scored two each for the runaway leaders, while substitutes Anu Lama and Rabina Gole netted one goal apiece. APF extended their unbeaten run to seven matches and they have not conceded a single goal in the tournament so far.

With the win, APF accumulated 21 points and opened up a five-point lead over fellow departmental side, Tribhuvan Army Football Club. TAFC have 16 points from six matches.

Bhandari, who is popularly known as Samba in sports fraternity, took her personal tally to 32 goals. She opened the scoring in the fourth minute and completed her hat-trick with goals in the 18th and 36th minutes.

Bhandari also found the back of the nets on 43, 53, 56, 72 and 87 minutes.

Anita KC netted in 24th and 40th minutes, whereas skipper Anita Basnet scored in the first half injury time and 64th minute. Anu Lama scored in 76th minute and Rabina Gole also got their names in the scoresheet.

On Tuesday, TAFC will take on Waling Municipality, while Nepal Police Club will play against Biratnagar Metropolitan City.
