Tribhuvan Army FC hammer Biratnagar riding on hat-trick from Thapa, move to second spot in Women's National League

Star striker Sabitra Bhandari scored a dozen goals as Nepal APF Club thrashed Chaudandigadhi Municipality 22-0 in the Women's National League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

The all time highest scorer for national team, Bhandari - who is popularly known as Samba in sports fraternity - took her personal tally to 24 goals in six matches. Anu Lama netted five goals for the departmental side, while Anita Basnet scored a hat-trick. Renuka Nagarkote and Saru Limbu also found the back of the nets.

With their sixth straight victory, APF - who have not conceded a single goal so far in the tournament - accumulated 18 points and maintained their lead at the top of the table.

Chaudandigadhi are yet to open their accounts in the seven-team competition and are at the bottom of the table.

Bhandari opened the scoring for APF in the fifth minute and completed her hat-trick with goals in the 32nd and 33rd minutes. She added two more goals in the 34th and 38th minutes before the break and netted seven - on 47, 55, 62, 63, 72, 79, 90+3 minutes - in the second half. Bhandari was later named the player of the match.

Anu Lama found the back of the nets on 11, 14, 20, 26 and 65 minutes, while Anit Basnet completed her hat-trick with goals in the ninth, 60th and 67th minutes. Likewise, Saru Limbu found the back of the nets in the 18th minute and Renuka Nagarkote scored in the 31st minute.

In the day's another match, Tribhuvan Army Football Club registered a 7-0 victory over Biratnagar Metropolitan City to cut APF's 11-point lead down to eight. With their third win in five matches, TAFC moved to second with 10 points from five matches. Biratnagar remained at the fourth position with seven points, one behind Nepal Police Club.

Sharmila Thapa scored a hat-trick, while Bimala Chaudhary netted two goals and Rashmi Ghising and Bimala BK struck one each for TAFC. Bimala put TAFC ahead in the 36th minute before Sharmila Thapa added two more in the 45th and second minute of the first half injury time to make it 3-0. Sharmila completed her hat-trick in the 61st minute.

Rashmi Ghising scored in the 67th minute and Bimala BK found the back of the nets four minutes later. Bimala Chaudhary scored her second and team's seventh goal in the 84th minute to complete the rout.
