Sabitra Bhandari scored a brace for APF against Waling in Saturday's game of Women's National League

LALITPUR, JANUARY 30

Nepal APF Club and Biratnagar Metropolitan City recorded victories on the Women's National League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

League leaders APF defeated Waling 3-0 for their fifth consecutive victory, while Biratnagar hammered Chaudandigadhi Municipality 6-0. APF accumulated maximum 15 points from five matches, while Waling have five points. Biratnagar, meanwhile, climbed up to third position, behind Tribhuvan Army Football Club on goal difference after being tied on seven points.

Chaudandigadhi are yet to open their accounts.

Sabitra Bhandari scored a brace for APF to take her tally to 12 goals, while Preeti Rai netted one for the departmental side against Waling. Bhandari opened the scoring in the 13th minute after she collected a long pass from Mana Maya Limbu and scored in an open net at a time when Waling goalkeeper Sabitri Kishan had come out of her position.

Rai doubled the tally in the 71st minute when she slammed home following a pass from skipper Anita Basnet. Bhandari sealed the victory with her second goal of the match four minutes later taking a pass from Rai.

In another match, Anu Rai struck twice for Biratnagar, while Ema Rai, Manisha Thapa Magar, Kusum Khatiwada and Parbati Ghale netted one each.

Anu Rai opened the scoring in the 21st minute and added her second in the 36th minute. Ema Rai and Manisha Thapa Magar found the back of the nets in the 39th and 43rd minute respectively as Biratnagar went into the break with a 4-0 lead.

Kusum Khatiwada and Parbati Ghale completed the rout with the team's fifth and sixth goals in the space of two minutes in the second half. Khatiwada found the back of the nets in the 82nd and Ghale scored in the 83rd minute to hand Chaudandigadhi their fourth straight defeat.
