LALITPUR, FEBRUARY 3

Biratnagar Metropolitan City defeated Nepal Police Club 1-0, while Tribhuvan Army Football Club recorded a 12-0 victory over Chaudandigadhi Municipality in the Women's National League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

Parbati Ghale scored the solitary goal to help Biratnagar climb up to third position with 10 points. The NPC slipped to fourth place with eight points. Ghale put Biratnagar ahead in the ninth minute after NPC defender Mani Gurung failed to clear the ball following a cross from Manisha Thapa Magar.

Nirmala BK struck against the pole in the 20th minute as the NPC missed a chance to level the scores. Shraddha Kumari of Biratnagar missed a sitter on a pass from Ghale in the 79th minute. Biratnagar opted defensive approach after taking the lead and their strategy worked against one of the strongest sides on the league.

In another match, TAFC scored a dozen goals against Chaudandigadhi, who are yet to open their accounts.

With the win, TAFC accumulated 13 points and narrowed the gap with leaders Nepal APF Club to five points. APF have maintained their winning streak to six matches without conceding a single goal.

Sharmila Thapa scored five goals alone and Sapana Lama netted a brace for the TAFC, while Hema Chaudhary, Anjali Waiba, Bimala Chaudhary, Bimala BK and Rashmi Ghising. Sharmila Thapa opened her accounts in the sixth minute and found the back of the nets on 12, 23, 29 and 36 minutes.

Hema Chaudhary opened the scoring in the third minute, while TAFC were already 3-0 inside eight minutes after Anjali Waiba found the back of the nets. Bimala Chaudhary scored in the 30th minute, whereas Bimala BK netted in the 48th minute.

Rashmi Ghising made it 10-0 in the 84th minute before Sapana Lama scored in the 87th minute and injury time to complete the rout.
