17 cameras installed to identify tiger's cave in Kailali

DHANGADHI, FEBRUARY 18

Seventeen cameras have been installed to identify the cave of the tiger that has posed a threat to human life in areas of Gauriganga Municipality and Kailari Rural Municipality of Kailali district.

A technical team of four persons from Bardiya National Park reached Kailali and installed 17 cameras including eight in the forest areas, informed Ram Chandra Kandel, Chief of Division Forest Office, Dhangadhi. According to him, cameras were installed in the areas of Basanta Corridor, Pushpanjali Community Forest in Gauriganga Municipality, and Shiva Shankar Community Forest.

The team reached Kailali from Bardiya National Park to take the tiger 'under control'. According to locals, the tiger was last seen around Shiva Shankar Community Forest area on Tuesday.

Kala Dhami, 25, of Andaiya, lost her life following a tiger attack in Gauriganga Municipality-5 of Kailali district, on Sunday.

On Friday, a 29-year-old woman too had sustained injuries consequential to a tiger attack in Kailari Rural Municipality-8 of the district.

Following the attacks, Gauriganga Municipality had requested the authorities to take the tiger under control.
