KATHMANDU, APRIL 1
A new building of Shree Rashtriya Primary School (renamed Basic School Sultana) in Khairahani Municipality, Chitwan, built with the Government of India's financial assistance of Rs 18.66 million, was jointly inaugurated by Nitesh Kumar, Consul General of the Consulate General of India in Birgunj, and Manejer Chaudhary, chairman, Ward 7, Khairahani Municipality, yesterday.
The inauguration was also attended by friends of India and Nepal including the School Management Committee, local politicians and community leaders.
According to the embassy, the Government of India grant under 'Nepal-Bharat Development Cooperation' was utilised for construction of a double storey school building with 12 classrooms and sanitation facilities.
The project was taken up as a High Impact Community Development Project under an agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Nepal.
The school was established in 1973. However, it was completely ruined by a flood in 2004. The Government of India's financial assistance for the school building aims to benefit children of the community and boost their learning experience.
The project is a reflection of India's development partnership with Nepal and complements efforts of the Government of Nepal in augmenting infrastructure in the field of education, said the embassy in a press release.
