Former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal contracts COVID-19

KATHMANDU, MAY 1

Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the ruling CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal contracted the coronavirus infection, on Saturday.

Earlier, Khanal had been admitted at the Manmohan Memorial Hospital following complaints of diarrhoea. It has been learnt that currently Khanal is being shifted to the Thapathali-based Norvic Hospital.

Cases of the infection continue to rise at an alarming rate in Nepal as the nation grapples with the second wave of the pandemic.

Many high profile Nepali leaders and celebrities are no exception to the infection.

Recently, incumbent Ministers Mani Thapa and Top Bahadur Rayamahi, former King Gyanendra Bikram Shah and former Queen Komal Shah, veteran actor Madan Krishna Shrestha among others too had tested positive for the infection.
