SARLAHI, JANUARY 31

A massive fire broke out at a plastic bag manufacturing factory in Bayalbas, of Ishwarpur Municipality, in Sarlahi, early Friday morning, causing damages worth crores.

The fire erupted at Himalayan Poly Nepal, a factory operating in a rented house owned by Netra Bahadur Karki at Brahmasthan Chowk, Bayalbas Bazaar, of Ishwarpur Municipality-7.

The fire, which started around 3:25 AM, is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, resulting in extensive destruction.

The factory was operated by Ram Chhabila Sah from Pokhariya Tole, Chandranagar Rural Municipality-4, Sarlahi.

The fire completely destroyed machinery, raw materials, and the building, reducing everything to ashes. The factory owner estimates a total loss of approximately Rs 7.5 crore.

According to the District Police Office, Sarlahi, the fire was brought under control by 5:30 AM with the coordinated efforts of 30 police personnel from the Kesharganj Area Police Office under the command of Inspector Umakanta Joshi, a team of nine Armed Police Force (APF) personnel from Sagarnath Base Camp, two fire engines from Hariwan and Malangwa municipalities, and upport from local residents.

The fire also caused partial damage to the nearby house of Nabal Kishor Sah.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rabindra Bahadur Singh, Chief of the District Police Office, Sarlahi, stated that all available units, including armed police, were mobilized as soon as the fire was reported. Despite extensive efforts with the help of locals and fire engines, the factory could not be saved.

Meanwhile, authorities are still assessing the exact extent of the losses.
