Second dose of Vero cell Covid-19 vaccine from May 16

KATHMANDU, MAY 13

The Covid-19 inoculation drive providing second dose of the Vero Cell vaccine will be launched on May 16.

According to District Health Office, Kathmandu, administration of thr second dose of China developed vaccine will start from Sunday.

Issuing a notice today, the office informed that the people falling in 18-59 age group, who had received the first dose will be receiving the second dose till May 25.

All eligible people are urged to visit a vaccination centre located near them as per convenience for the second jab, informed Buddhi Bahadur Khadka, Chief Public Health Officer at the Office.

The dates for the second dose has been scheduled corresponding to the day they received the first dose.

Government had begun the inoculation drive with China donated Vero Cell from April 7 in Kathmandu Valley, giving the first priority to health workers, traders working across the Sino-Nepal Border and Nepali students studying in China among other specific professions.

However, it had later broadened the eligibility to receive the jab to all those willing within the age group of 18-59.

The Government later temporarily suspended the Vero cell inoculation drive owing to the prohibitory order enforced in Kathmandu valley, on April 29.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population has asked adults over 18 years that haven't received a jab yet but are willing to receive their first dose to fill in a form (click here) in order to register.
